BOISE, Idaho – Ryan Macpherson has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in men's golf at Boise State, Bronco head coach Dan Potter announced, Thursday.
Macpherson is currently a sophomore at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix and will join the Broncos next fall.
A native of Chandler, Ariz., Macpherson was a 2020 NJCAA Ping Division II Second-Team All-American.
Last week, he captured individual medalist honors at the Mesa CC Men's Invitational, his second-straight title at the event.
"Ryan comes from an outstanding program led by Aaron Puetz at South Mountain Community College, where he's already been a key part of a winning culture," Potter said. "Ryan has won multiple events while at South Mountain and has already demonstrated the ability to compete well among D1 competition. He's an athletic player with a lot of speed and he is a great putter. Most importantly, Ryan is a genuine, likable guy who is hungry to improve and continue winning tournaments."
As a freshman, he was an NJCAA Ping All-West Region selection and an NJCAA All-Academic Third-Team Student-Athlete. He was a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America Academic national champions.
In non-JUCO tournaments, he placed fifth at the 2020 Tucker Amateur shooting 68-69-69—206 and finished 21st at the 2021 Saguaro Amateur.
Macpherson played at Perry High School where he was four-year all-region selection athletically and academically. As a senior, he garnered all-state recognition.
