FINAL RESULTS

BOISE, Idaho –
The Boise State gymnastics team, ranked No. 25 in Road to Nationals, picked up its third victory of the season over a top-25 team, upsetting No. 23 Utah State at ExtraMile Arena, Saturday. The Broncos edged the Aggies, 196.350-196.250.

In just four meets this season, the Broncos already have wins over No. 13 Oregon State, No. 14 BYU and No. 23 Utah State.

"Maddi (Nilson) got us started with that stick on vault, and Emily (Muhlenhaupt) did her normal thing on bars, carrying the momentum through beam and then Maddi set a personal best on floor," head coach Tina Bird said. "I'm proud of our senior leadership, but we're going to have a target on our backs as we move forward and we're definitely going to need to keep cleaning things up as we progress through this season."

Redshirt senior Emily Muhlenhaupt barely missed perfection once again, scoring a 9.975 on bars to pick up her 12th-career victory in the event. Redshirt senior Maddi Nilson scored a career-high 9.900 on floor, earning her second-career win.

Muhlenhaupt, who now has four-career scores of 9.975, is tied for seventh on the Broncos' all-time list for career victories on bars (Cherianne Calkins, 1988-90 and Hannah Redmon, 2008-11).

Nilson added a career-high 9.850 on vault to lead the Broncos, while Muhlenhaupt led Boise State on beam with a career-high-tying 9.875. Each finished runner-up in the respective event.

Boise State's bars line-up, which entered tonight ranked 10th nationally, nearly swept Utah State, boasting five of the top six scores en route to a season-high 49.350. Freshman Emily Lopez finished runner-up in the event, recording a 9.875, while fellow freshman Talia Little made her collegiate debut (9.700).

A rematch with the Aggies is on tap next week, with the Broncos traveling to Logan, Utah, for a second-straight meet against Utah State. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., Feb. 13 (Saturday).
