FINAL RESULTS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Boise State women's golf team finished with one of the lowest tournament scores in school history at the Gunrock Invitational Tuesday, led by top-25 finishes from freshmen Emma Yang and Elli Gordon.
The Broncos' team score of 882 (295-295-292, +18) is tied for the fourth-lowest three-round total in school history.
"This tournament was good for us to build confidence in our ability to go low as a team," head coach Nicole Bird said. "We were able to get a number of low rounds at even-par or better from multiple players, so that will help us as we build toward the postseason.
"Our focus this week was on par-5 scoring, and we came in at 10-under on par 5s. It shows we are working on the right things and are headed in the right direction."
For both Yang and Gordon, the top-25 efforts were the second in as many stroke play events of their young collegiate careers. Yang led the Broncos with a 1-under 215 (71-72-72), finishing tied for 15th. Gordon fired a final-round 1-under 71, moving into a tie for 25th (74-74-71—219, +3).
Yang finished tied for third at the season-opening Valley Invitational (Feb. 8-9), and Gordon finished tied for eighth.
Juniors Lexi Perry (76-73-72—221, +5) and Nicole Suppelsa (77-76-77—230, +14) and sophomore Cora Mickelsen (74-80-80—234, +18) rounded out the scoring for Boise State, which finished in seventh place as a team.
Next up for the Broncos is the BYU Spring Classic in St. George, Utah, scheduled for March 15-16.
