Broncos Begin Mountain West Championships with a Pair of Bronze

CLOVIS, Calif. – Day one of the Mountain West Championships got off to a strong start for Boise State track and field, Thursday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
 
Graduate students Logan Rees and Clare O'Brien each earned a bronze medal finish in the men and women's 10,000-meters, respectively.
 
Rees, who finished with a time of 29:52.79, was followed closely across the line by Jack Leitch with a time of 29:53.66. They combined to earn the Bronco men 11 points on the opening day of competition.
 
O'Brien led a quartet of runners for the Boise State women. Following a fast start by three New Mexico runners, O'Brien quickly recovered and chased down the third runner to earn a spot on the podium and secure six points for the Bronco women with a time of 33:50.81.
 
Action resumes Friday with the women's long jump at 5 p.m. MT on the Mountain West Network.
