Boise State receives ITA All-Academic Team award, eight Broncos named ITA Scholar-Athletes
BOISE, Idaho - Boise State's women's tennis team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for academic success for the 15th time in the last 16 years. The Broncos received the ITA's All-Academic Team award for posting a program-record cumulative GPA of 3.759 for the 2020-21 academic year. In addition, all eight of the Broncos were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for positing cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or higher.
"Earning these academic honors really means a lot to our program and our student-athletes and staff," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "We pride ourselves on working to be our best at anything we are pursuing on or off the court, so seeing these results shows us that working the process works."
"What we're most proud of in earning these honors is that it took everyone on the team committing to, and meeting an incredibly high standard," said Roghaar. "To have every single person on our team earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete award makes history for our program. To do this in conjunction with hitting a program record 3.76 GPA is such an incredible effort by our student-athletes. We have such dedicated young women in our program who understand the opportunity it is to be a Bronco and want to continue to raise the bar in every area of our program. I'm so proud of their efforts in every facet of their lives to be elite. We no doubt also owe a special thank you to Eric Kile, our amazing academic advisor. His support, energy, and passion towards our program and our student-athletes is a key part in any of our academic success."
All eight of the Broncos were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for maintaining a cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or higher. The squad included: senior Vanessa Timm, junior Corey Patton Lossner, sophomores Ana Conde Vendrell, Joana Baptista and Holly Stewart, as well as freshmen Nicole Discenza, Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan.
The Broncos were one of eight schools from the Mountain West recognized by the ITA for having a 3.2 or better cumulative team GPA for the past academic year, while the eight Broncos were among a list of 50 MW student-athletes that received individual accolades.
