Boise State men's golfer Hugo Townsend was named to the 2021 NCAA Division I PING All-America Third Team after a sensational season for the Broncos.

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced it has named Boise State men's golfer Hugo Townsend to the 2021 NCAA Division I PING All-America Third Team. He becomes the first Bronco to earn All-America honors since 2008 when Troy Merritt earned third-team honors.

"This is a big deal for Hugo and for our program," said head coach Dan Potter. "Hugo has been dedicated to being great ever since he arrived in Boise and it's nice to see his work pay off like it has. He's a big-time player and this is a big time honor."

Townsend continues to rake in the postseason accolades after a sensational season for the Broncos where he led them to the team's first NCAA Regional appearance since 1994. The Swede had previously been named Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Year - becoming the third Bronco to earn a conference player of the year title – and was most recently named to the 2021 PING Division I All-West Region Team by the GCAA.

The junior shot a per-round average of 69.92 strokes and placed in the top-25 in all eight events in which he competed. In those eight events he took home six top-10 finishes, five of which he finished in the top five. He took home the title at the Duck Invitational in March and was tied for the lead in the Mountain West Championship before being eliminated in the second playoff hole.
