AVCA honors Beach Volleyball for academics

Beach Broncos also named to AVCA Academic Team Honor Roll for placing in the top-20 percent in the nation.
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State beach volleyball team was named one of 41 NCAA DI programs to receive the United State Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award on Monday, July 19.Â
This is the third-consecutive year and the fourth time overall in the program's eight year history that it has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. In addition, the Broncos were named to the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, meaning they finished in the top-20 percent in the nation for GPA.
The Beach Broncos recorded a team cumulative grade point average of 3.758 for the past academic year. The impressive mark set a new program record for the Broncos in the classroom.Â
The AVCA's award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
