BOISE, Idaho – Fran Strub (STROOB) has been named an assistant softball coach at Boise State, Bronco head coach Justin Shults announced, Friday.
A four-year outfielder at Northwestern, Strub spent four seasons with the Wildcats' coaching staff.
"I'm very excited to add Fran to our coaching staff," Shults said. "Her knowledge of the game and attention to detail will be crucial in the development of our athletes. She knows what it takes to compete at the highest level and has learned from the some of the best."
Strub played in 176 games at Northwestern from 2013-16 and started 41 games as a senior. She batted .255 in the regular season before hitting .412 in the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Athens Regional combined. She added six outfield assists that season.
In 2017, Strub served as a student assistant at her alma mater. She moved into the volunteer assistant role in 2018. After attending law school in 2019, the Coralville, Iowa native returned to Northwestern for two additional seasons as the volunteer coach.
"I'm grateful for this incredible opportunity," Strub said. "Boise State is a great brand and has the resources and vision to excel in the Mountain West and across the country. I am excited to be joining the Bronco family. The program has a great foundation and I can't wait to get started and say where we can take it."
Strub was a 2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and pursued a certificate in accounting during her student coaching stint with the Wildcats.
