Paige Bartsch recorded a career-high 25 kills and hit .333 percent to lead the Broncos.
BOISE, Idaho – Paige Bartsch's career-high 25 kills were not enough to lead Boise State volleyball to victory Tuesday night in Logan as the Broncos fell in five sets 23-25, 25-22, 25-10, 25-27, 15-7 at Utah State.
Â
Boise State rallied from two down at 22-20 to take set one with a 5-1 run powered by Bartsch with two kills and a block assist, and Kayly Pau with two kills.
Â
The Broncos found themselves in a five-point hole early in the second set down 9-4. As a result, they were forced to play from behind the entire way, rallying to within two points late at 24-22 before the Aggies put it away for the three-point win, 25-22. Â
Â
After a dominating set three win by Utah State, the Broncos rallied from six down (21-15) in the fourth to surprise the Aggies by taking it in extra points 27-25 and force a decisive fifth period.
Â
The fifth set was all Utah State as the Aggies used a 6-0 run to break open a 3-3 score. The six-point deficit was too much for the Broncos to recover from as USU held on for the set-and-match victory. Â Â
