Boise State Falls in Five to Wyoming

Lauren Ohlinger recorded a season-high 24 kills and 28.5 points to lead the Broncos.
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball was edged 3-2 (16-25, 25-19, 22-25, 26-24, 15-12) by Wyoming in a Mountain West match Saturday afternoon in front of a near sell-out crowd of 1,104 at Bronco Gym. Senior Lauren Ohlinger tallied a team and season-high 24 kills, but it was not enough as the Broncos lost their first home match of the year. Boise State is now 14-7 overall and 6-4 in league play, while Wyoming is 9-13 and 5-5.
Boise State was outhit by Wyoming .267 percent to .244 percent on the day. The Cowgirls picked up their hitting intensity in the final two sets finishing at .378 percent or above in both periods, while the Broncos hit .250 percent or below.
The Broncos finished with more kills 71 to Wyoming's 64, but the Cowgirls had more service aces, five to four, and blocks 14.5 to nine.
Boise State rolled to a nine-point first-set win, then followed with a 25-22 victory in the third. Meanwhile, Wyoming rallied back to take the second, fourth and fifth sets. The match saw a combined 26 ties and 14 lead changes as the two teams went back and forth.
The Cowgirls rallied from two down in the fifth set at 7-5 with an 8-1 run to take control of the period up 13-8. Boise State attempted to rally, closing to within 14-12 before Wyoming put it away to claim the road victory over the Broncos.

- Paige Bartsch finished with her eighth double-double on 16 kills and 11 digs to go with three block assists for 17.5 points.
- Jordan Miller added 14 kills against the Cowgirls.
- Annie Kaminski hit a team-best .500 percent with 10 kills and three block assists.
- Allison Casillas recorded her third match of the season with 20 or more digs; she had a team-high 20.
- Ohlinger's 24 kills give her 1,272 in her career, closing to within 10 of fourth place on the Boise State all-time career list.
