Boise State Falls in Four to Utah State

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball fell in four sets (12-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-19) to Utah State in a big Mountain West match between teams tied for fourth place in the league standings. With the loss, Boise State moved to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in the conference, while Utah State improved to 15-7 and 7-4.
The Broncos struggled to hit the ball after a hot opening set where they hit .500 percent, finishing the match at .137 percent to Utah State's .336 percent.
After being tied at 3-3 in the first, Boise State broke the set open with a 6-1 run, then cruised to a 13-point, 25-12, set-one victory over the Aggies powered by hot hitting.
Boise State went out to an early lead in the second set and was up 17-15 when the Aggies rallied with a 10-3 run to close it out with a five-point, 25-20, win to even the match at 1-1.
The Broncos scored the first point of the third, but Utah State quickly responded with a 3-0 run and never trailed again as the Aggies won the set by 11 points.
The fourth set saw the Broncos start strong up 3-0, but they could not maintain the energy as USU rallied, taking the lead for good following a 3-0 run that turned a 9-9 tie into a 12-9 advantage.

- Paige Bartsch led the Broncos with her eighth double-double of the season on 13 kills and 11 digs to go with 16 points; all three were team highs.
- Lauren Ohlinger added eight kills, two service aces, and two block assists to finish with 11 points.
- Annie Kaminski had six kills and a team-high five block assists.
- Ohlinger's career kills total increased to 1,280 as she closed to within two of fourth place on the Boise State all-time list.
- Ohlinger's two service aces moved her into a tie for eighth place on the all-time career list with 128.
