UNLV Downs the Broncos in Three

Lauren Ohlinger moved into fourth place on the career kills list with 11 against the Rebels.
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball fell in three (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) to Mountain West-leading UNLV Thursday night in Bronco Gym. With the loss, Boise State moved to 14-9 overall and 6-6 in the conference, while UNLV improved to 19-3 and 10-1.

The Broncos struggled against the Rebels' experience and offensive attack on Thursday as the Rebels outhit Boise State .385 percent for 45 kills to .118 percent and 31 kills.

UNLV used a 6-1 run midway through the opening set to turn a 13-13 tie into a 19-14 advantage. The Broncos could not recover as the Rebels claimed the early 1-0 match lead.Â

With the score tied at 9-9 in the second set, UNLV slowly pulled away from the Broncos to take it by six points to go up 2-0 in the match.

The third period was similar to the first two, close early with UNLV pulling away by mid-set. Â

- Lauren Ohlinger was the lone Bronco to reach double-digit kills finishing with a team-high 11 to go with one service ace for 12 points.
- Annie Kaminski added eight kills and a team-high two block assists.
- Paige Bartsch had seven kills and one block.
- Ohlinger's career kills total increased to 1,291 to move her from fifth into fourth place on Boise State's all-time list, one short of tying for third. Â
- Ohlinger's service ace moved her into sole possession of eighth place on the all-time career list with 129, two short of tying for seventh.
- The loss decreased the Broncos' lead in the all-time series with UNLV to 15-12.
- Boise State will be on the road next week at San Diego State on Nov. 3 and at Fresno State on Nov. 5.
