Broncos Edge Billikens On The Road

ST. LOUIS – Max Rice made four free-throws in the final 45 seconds as Boise State men's basketball edged out a 57-52 win in its first true-road test against Saint Louis, Saturday night at Chaifetz Arena. 

The Broncos (8-2) and the Billikens (7-4) each got off to slow starts offensively as the teams missed the first 13 field goal attempts of the game before Naje Smith opened the scoring by hitting a three-pointer with 15:39 on the clock. Boise State had seven players score in the opening half but entered the break trailing 26-23.

In the second half Boise State rattled off a 12-2 run between the second and third media timeouts, taking the lead 41-35 and forcing a Saint Louis timeout with 12:02 remaining. Saint pulled itself back into the game and tied the score at 52 with under a minute left. Max Rice drew the foul and knocked down two free throws to retake the lead with 45 seconds to go, then sank two more with one second remaining to ice the seventh-straight victory for the Broncos.
