Dickey Announces Restructuring of Leadership Team

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Athletics has finalized its leadership team, senior staff and sport program administration team, director of athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Tuesday.
In advance of the 2022-23 academic year, and in support of the infrastructure pillar of the What's Next Initiative, the finalization of the Broncos' leadership teams will have a positive impact on the department's 350-plus student-athletes.
"Having evaluated our department structure for more than a year, and going through the process of identifying the necessary personnel and strategic vision to position our department for future success, this model – and those providing leadership to our coaches, staff and student-athletes – will maximize our opportunities to capitalize on strategic initiatives," Dickey said. "Our people are our greatest asset, and we are committed to winning with people of character, integrity, and a relentless work ethic. Ownership and accountability in serving our staff, student-athletes, and supporters is a priority, and it begins with our leadership team."
The Broncos leadership team is comprised of five members who will report directly to the director of athletics, including associate athletic director for human resource services and chief of staff, Heather Berry; associate athletic director for compliance, Nathan Burk; senior associate athletic director for strategic planning and capital projects, Bob Carney; senior associate athletic director for external affairs, Cody Gougler; and senior associate athletic director for student-athlete services and senior woman administrator, Christina Van Tol.
The Broncos' leadership provides oversight to all areas of the department, in addition to providing sport program administrator oversight to men's basketball (Gougler), women's basketball (Van Tol), football (Carney), gymnastics (Van Tol), soccer (Berry) and men's and women's track and field and cross country (Burk).

The department's senior staff includes the Broncos' leadership team, in addition to Mike Keller, associate athletic director for major gifts; Jake Mankin, associate athletic director for ticket sales and operations; Joe Nickell, associate athletic director for strategic communications; Marc Paul, associate athletic director for sports performance, health and wellness; Brenda Robinson, associate athletic director and chief financial officer; Gabe Rosenvall, associate athletic director for student-athlete academic services; Taryn Schutte, director of athletic administration; Cody Smith, associate athletic director for operations; and Mike Walsh, associate athletic director for business development and revenue innovation.
Keller (women's golf), Mankin (men's and women's tennis), Nickell (men's golf), Rosenvall (volleyball and beach volleyball) and Smith (softball) will also provide sport program administration oversight.
Sport program administrators will provide supervision and guidance to the head coach, coaching staff, support staff and student-athletes in each program, while advising the director of athletics on all important matters concerning the assigned sport program. This includes monitoring and directing the sport program in all aspects of operations in partnership with the head coach, including budget management; event management; competitiveness; student-athlete conduct; name, image and likeness; head coach accountability documentation; and compliance.
Secondary sport program administration oversight will be added in the coming weeks in effort to further bolster the leadership of each sport program and support coaches and student-athletes throughout the department.
