Broncos Notch 197.000, Win Quad Meet on the Road

STANFORD, Calif. – For the first time since 2019 Boise State gymnastics notched a score of 197.000, winning a quad meet over No. 18 Stanford, No. 19 BYU and Sacramento State, Monday afternoon on the road.
BYU and Stanford finished tied for second place, each scoring a 196.575. Sacramento State rounded out the final standings with a score of 193.325. The wins improve the Broncos to 5-2 on the season, with four wins coming over top-25 opponents.
The Broncos got off to a fantastic start in which three career-high scores were posted on beam in the first rotation. Adriana Popp and Hope Masiado led the way with a pair of 9.925s to each set career-highs, and Emily Lopez chipped in a personal-best 9.900. The Broncos finished the event with a season-high 49.375, which ties the eighth-highest beam score in program history.
"I'm so proud of the beam team for starting off the meet with beautiful routines," said head coach Tina Bird. "Emily Lopez, Hope Masiado and Adriana Popp all had incredible performances. They're all showing the confidence we have worked so hard for this season."
In the second rotation, Adriana Popp scored a season-high 9.850 on floor to lead the way for Boise State. The Broncos scored a 48.975 and held onto their lead heading into rotation three.
Boise State brought its best on vault, scoring its highest score of the season with a 49.225. The Bronco vault squad has improved its score every meet thus far this season. Freshman Alyssa Vulaj set a career-high in the event for the third-straight week, scoring a 9.925 to earn a share of her third-straight individual title on the apparatus.
For the second-straight week the Broncos put up five scores of 9.825 or better on bars, posting an overall score of 49.425 in the rotation. Maddi Nilson and Alexis Stokes each scored 9.900, which for Nilson, ties a career high. Emily Muhlenhaupt dazzled as usual, scoring 9.950 to win the individual title in the event for the 19th time in her career.
"Our bars routine can compete with any team in the country," said Bird. "I'm especially proud of Maddi today for coming in with a clutch routine and tying her career high."
Up next Boise State travels to Cedar City, Utah, for a matchup with MRGC foe Southern Utah, Friday, Feb. 25. The meet is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. MT.
