URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Emily Muhlenhaupt broke the school record for career wins on bars as No. 23 Boise State gymnastics scored a 196.550 to take second place at a quad meet hosted by Illinois, Friday night.

The 22nd-ranked Illini took home the top score of the night with a 197.125, while the Broncos finished ahead of Central Michigan (196.275) and Northern Illinois (194.475).

"We were on fire on vault and bars tonight," said head coach Tina Bird. "We have some work to do on beam and floor, but I'm happy with the way they attacked the meet."

Boise State's bars rotation put on a clinical display, posting 49.525 to tie the third-highest score in program history. Alexis Stokes scored 9.900 – her fifth-straight meet scoring at least 9.900 on the apparatus – while Emily Lopez tied a career high with 9.950.

The star of the night was Emily Muhlenhaupt, who again tied the program bars record by posting a 9.975. The score clinched her 21st title in the event during her time as a Bronco, setting a new program record for bars wins in a career. Muhlenhaupt passed Lindsay Ward (2004-08), who had held the record for over a decade.

The Broncos set a season high on vault with an impressive 49.275. Boise State has either tied or improved upon its vault score from the previous meet in every outing this season, showing consistent improvement on the apparatus. For the second-straight week Courtney Blackson and Lopez split the event title on bars as the duo posted a pair of 9.900s to lead the way for Boise State. Maddi Nilson tied her career high of 9.850, and Alyssa Vulaj chipped in a 9.850 of her own to round out the rotation.

Beam was highlighted by a 9.900 from Adriana Popp, her second 9.900 of the season. Emily Lopez added a 9.850 to help lift the Broncos to a 48.850. Blackson led the way for the Blue and Orange on floor, scoring 9.850 to help Boise State to a 48.900.

Up next the Broncos travel to Arizona for a tri meet with Arizona State and Oklahoma. The regular-season finale will take place on Friday, March 11, at 7 p.m. MT.
