Castanon Leads Broncos at Chambers Bay Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Boise State women's golf team, led by senior Elena Castanon, recorded a 12th-place finish at the Chambers Bay Invitational, Tuesday.
The Broncos bested three conference foes in New Mexico (13th-place finish), Colorado State (14th) and Wyoming (18th).
Castanon tied for 34th in a field of over 100 student-athletes, carding rounds of 79-76-78 (+17).
Fifth-year senior Nicole Suppelsa and sophomore Elli Gordon finished just behind Castanon, tying for 43rd and 48th, respectively.
Suppelsa shot a 76 in the final 18 holes of the tournament, moving up the leaderboard after being tied for 70th following the first two rounds of play.
Likewise, Gordon (79-78-79, +20) improved 10 spots during the final round of the competition.
Rounding out Boise State's scoring five were fifth-year senior Lexi Perry (76-78-84, +22) and sophomore Franca Polla (77-79-85, +25).
Freshman Hannah Lim also competed in the tournament, representing the Broncos as an individual (80-87-83, +34).
This marks the Blue and Orange's last regular-season tournament before traveling to Rancho Mirage, Calif., for the Mountain West Championships, April 18-20.
