BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Men's Golf Head Coach Dan Potter has announced the signing of Gavyn Knight, a prep standout from Parksville, British Columbia.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to have Gavyn join our program," said Potter. "He had a breakthrough summer last year, winning the BC Junior, contending in the BC Am, and ultimately playing his way onto the Canadian National Team. He's a mature young man, comes from a great family and has all the tools to be successful on and off the course."

Knight is coming off of an impressive 2021 breakout campaign. In July, Knight shot a 1-under 287 (74-71-71-71) to win the 2021 B.C. Junior Boys Championships by five strokes. Later that month he went on to take a third-place finish at the 119th B.C. Amateur Men's Golf Championship with a 6-under 282 performance (74-67-70).

In December, Knight's impressive results earned him a spot on Team Canada's national men's junior team (U-19) for the 2022 season. The selection was based on objective performance results from throughout the year and was reviewed by a national committee.

Knight will join a Boise State team that has recently won multiple tournaments in the same season for the first time since 1992-93. He is the second recruit to commit for the 2022 season along with Cole Rueck of Corvallis, Ore.
