BOISE, Idaho - Following a complete venue assessment of all Bronco Athletics facilities, including a current condition analysis, AECOM's sports practice has provided Boise State Athletics with its recommendations for facility improvements and additions, the results of which position the department for future successes within each of its 18 sports programs, director of athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Thursday.
Additionally, Boise State Athletics is releasing its initial Playbook for Success, which includes a first look into concepts for an Athletics Master Village.
Future plans for athletics facilities were prepared in alignment with all 2015 university master planning documents.
"We aim for excellence in all of our programs—academic and athletic—at Boise State," Boise State University President Dr. Marlene Tromp said. "We want to provide the best experience we can for every student and every student-athlete. We see an exciting future for Boise State University on all fronts, and this work provides a vision of which our fans and our state can be proud."
Boise State announced it was partnering with AECOM's sports practice - the industry's only fully-integrated sports consultancy - to conduct a comprehensive facilities analysis in August of 2021, which included a complete review of the Broncos' current facilities.
"We said in August that this would be our first step in determining what our programs need in order to be successful, and to be able to recruit and compete at a national level across the board," Dickey said. "Now, our mission is to prioritize AECOM's recommendations and determine what the future of Bronco Athletics is going to look like.
"We now have our playbook for success, but the work is only just beginning. This assessment, in totality, will impact each of our 18 sports programs while significantly enhancing the experience for our loyal fans and stakeholders. With the help of Bronco Nation, now is the time to position our department for sustainable excellence and assure we are providing an elite student-athlete experience."
The recommendation for an Athletics Master Village was introduced to include implementation from all four elements of the department's What's Next Initiative - infrastructure, student-athlete experience, marketability and revenue generation.
The introduction of a future Athletics Master Village arrives on the heels of Boise State's recent launch of the Horsepower Drive for 10,000 BAA members, which includes a goal of 200 Lyle Smith Society members by 2023 and 25,000 football season tickets to be sold by 2025. Fans excited about the future vision of Bronco Athletics are encouraged to purchase season tickets, join the stampede for 10,000 BAA members or review the multiple philanthropic options available through the Bronco Athletic Association.
The Broncos' complete 48-page Playbook for Success is available at BroncoSports.com/playbook, but Boise State has identified 12 priorities it deemed critical when positioning itself for future successes and sustainability, which are outlined below:
