Six Broncos Named Academic All-District

Four sports are represented, men’s golf, gymnastics, and men’s and women’s tennis, by the six student-athletes.

BOISE, Idaho – Six Boise State student-athletes were among those recognized nationwide as Academic All-District, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced on May 20.
 
The Broncos who received this prestigious honor for the "at-large" sports include Joana Baptista (women's tennis), Emily Muhlenhaupt (gymnastics), Alexis Stokes (gymnastics), Simon Arca Costas (men's tennis), Skyler Eubank (men's golf), and Hugo Townsend (men's golf). This is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team accolade for all six honorees.
 
The Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
 
Baptista, a junior from Porto, Portugal, is an academic standout having been named a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Mountain West and MW Scholar-Athlete. She is also a four-time All-MW honoree, twice in singles and in doubles.
 
Muhlenhaupt, a 5th-year from Castle Rock, Colo., is a four-time Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-American and Academic All-Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) honoree. She is a three-time WCGA All-America First Team honoree on bars, three-time MRGC Bars Specialist of the Year, two-time MRGC Bars Champion and four-time All-MRGC First Team on bars.
 
Stokes, a senior from McKinney, Texas, is a 4.0 student-athlete, three-time WCGA Scholastic All-American and Academic All-Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) honoree. Athletically, Stokes was the 2019 MRGC Bars Champion and is a two-time All-MRGC honoree on bars. Like Muhlenhaupt, she is also a three-time NCAA Regional participant.
 
Arca Costas, a senior from Vigo, Spain, is a three-time Academic All-MW honoree. Athletically, he is a four-time All-MW honoree, twice for singles and twice for doubles. He recorded his 71st career singles victory this past spring to rank 20th in program history.
 
Eubank, a fifth-year student from College Station, Texas, is a two-time Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, four-time Academic All-MW honoree and a one-time MW Scholar-Athlete. He is a two-time NCAA Regional participant and a 2021 All-MW honoree.
 
Townsend, senior from Boden, Sweden, is a 2021 PING Division 1 All-America Third Team and PING Division 1 All-West Region honoree. He is the two-time MW Men's Golfer of the Year, two-time NCAA Regional participant and two-time All-MW. Academically, Townsend is a two-time Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, three-time Academic All-MW and a one-time MW Scholar-Athlete.
