Incoming Freshman Qualifies for Junior World Championships

AIEA, Hawaii – Boise State women's golf incoming freshman Leia Chung qualified for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships earlier this month.

The tournament connects young golfers from all parts of the world, representing 56 countries and 42 states. It is the largest international event in the world and is unique for its international representation and cultural diversity.

Chung earned a berth to the championships, finishing tied for third in the girl's 15-18 flight at the IMG/Girls Junior PGA Qualifier, carding rounds of 72-72 (E).

A native of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Chung won the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Regionals and was crowned the state champion as a freshman in 2019.

The Junior World Championships are scheduled for July 12-15 at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif.
