18-game Mountain West schedule released
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State's Mountain West title defense will begin Dec. 28 at Nevada, the Mountain West announced with the release of the 18-game conference schedule for the 2022-23 season, Wednesday.
The dates of each game are subject to change, based on television selections. Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports and FOX Sports will now initiate a selection procedure, which will include the shifting of particular games to any night of the week. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and tipoff times. The broadcast schedule will be announced in September.
Each of the 11 Mountain West schools plays eight home-and-home series along with one additional home game and one additional road game. The Broncos will not host Air Force and will not travel to Fresno State. They will play the remaining eight conference opponents twice.
Boise State's two bye dates will be Dec. 31 and Feb. 7.
Following the conference opener in Reno, the Broncos will open the new year with back-to-back home games against San Jose State, Jan. 3, and Utah State, Jan. 7, at ExtraMile Arena, followed by road games at UNLV, Jan. 10, and at Wyoming, Jan. 14.
A trip to New Mexico (Jan. 21) is sandwiched by home games against Nevada (Jan. 17), Fresno State (Jan. 24) and Colorado State (Jan. 28), with January ending with a road game at Air Force, Jan. 31, followed by a trip to San Diego State on Feb. 4.
Following Boise State's final conference open date of the season, the Broncos travel to Colorado State (Feb. 14). Following the trip to Fort Collins, Boise State will play four games in a 10-day span – with three being from the friendly confines of ExtraMile Arena: Wyoming (Feb. 11), UNLV (Feb. 18) and New Mexico (Feb. 21).
The final home game of the season will be against San Diego State, Feb. 28, sandwiched by road trips to San Jose State (Feb. 25) and the regular season finale at Utah State, March 4.
Season tickets are available now and can be purchased online, in person at the Boise State Athletic Ticket Office, or by calling 208-426-4737. Season tickets in the lower bowl are 97-percent sold out, while tickets in the second level are 85-percent sold out.
The Broncos return All-Mountain West guard Marcus Shaver, Jr., and Mountain West Freshman of the Year Tyson Degenhart from last year's squad which won the regular season title outright, as well as the conference tournament title. Boise State won a school-record 27 games while earning its highest national seed for the NCAA Tournament.
Head coach Leon Rice, the all-time wins leader in program history, enters his 13th season at the helm of the program with a 244-145 record. Rice has led the Broncos to eight postseason appearances, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Boise State's complete 2022-23 schedule will be announced at a later date.
