COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Leia Chung was named the Mountain West Women's Golf Freshman of the Month following her top-10 performances at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic (Sept. 12-13) and Ptarmigan Ram Classic (Sept. 26-27), the conference announced Friday.

Chung is the first Boise State women's golf student-athlete to earn a conference weekly or monthly award since senior Samantha Martin was named the golfer of the week in March 2016.

In her collegiate debut at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, Chung posted the Broncos' second-lowest finish, shooting 8-over par en route to tying for sixth. Her performance helped Boise State secure its first stroke-play tournament victory since 2018.

Two weeks later at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, Chung became the first Bronco in program history to fire three rounds under par in the same tournament, carding scores of 69-71-70 (-6), finishing tied for fifth.

Additionally, her 54-hole score of 210 tied the second-lowest tournament total in program history.

Next, Boise State travels to Broken Arrow, Okla., for the Dale McNamara Invitational, Oct. 10-11.
