Broncos Go 4-2 Against North Carolina at Allen Morris Invite

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Boise State men's tennis opened the spring season on Friday at the Allen Morris Invitational at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill going 4-2 in doubles against the 18th-ranked Tar Heels. On Saturday, the Broncos faced the No. 22 Columbia Lions in four doubles matches and nine singles contests.

The Allen Morris Invitational is not a team-scoring event; it is a singles and doubles competition in a hidden dual format.

The Broncos opened the invitational with a strong head-to-head doubles performance against North Carolina, taking four of six matches on Friday. Caden Moortgat and Sam Sippel led the way claiming a pair of victories over the Tar Heels by 6-4 and 6-2 scores. Boise State and North Carolina will play singles on Monday.

On Saturday, Boise State was led by Sippel in singles as he was the lone Bronco to win his match versus the Lions. Sippel went three sets before pulling out a 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-2 victory over 64th-ranked Max Westphal.

Overall, the Blue and Orange saw 22nd-ranked Columbia take eight of the nine singles matches and all four doubles.
