Broncos Wrap Up Impressive Weekend at Alki Pairs Tournament

SEATTLE – Boise State beach volleyball wrapped up its first tournament of the fall season at the Alki Pairs Tournament on Sunday.

The Broncos totaled three bracket-play winners at the event, which consisted of a separate tournament on each day.

Rorianna Chartier and Lily Patock won the C Bracket of the Gold Division on Saturday, topping Oregon's Isabella Garnache and Alina Valenti 21-19, 21-18 to claim the crown. Playing together for the first time in their careers, the duo finished 3-2 over the course of the event.

Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden also had a dominant showing, claiming the B Bracket crown of the Silver Division on Saturday. The pair went 4-1 on the opening day and defeated teammates Kaylee Mejia and Abbie Wolf in the final. Anderson also had a strong showing on Sunday, winning four-straight matches with Anika Christensen before falling to Kylie Fitzsimmons and Ashlyn Zilliken (Arizona) in the final of the Silver Division A Bracket.

Emily Garus and Summer McCann won the Bronze Division B Bracket on Saturday, defeating Milan Ray and Lauren Sayre of Utah in the title match.

NOTABLES

Ava Anderson finished the weekend with an 8-2 record. The sophomore went 4-1 with Addison Wolden on Saturday, and 4-1 with Anika Christensen on Sunday.
Boise State finished 15-1 in matches against Oregon and 11-7 against Utah.
The Broncos played 71 total matches at the two-day event, the most the program has ever played at a single event.

Boise State continues its fall season with the City of Trees Classic, Oct. 21-22, at the Boise State Beach Volleyball Complex in Boise, Idaho.
