Broncos Close Road Trip with Loss to Butler

ORLANDO, Fla. – A series of Butler runs on either end of halftime was enough to defeat Boise State in the fifth-place game of the ESPN Events Invitational, Sunday at the State Farm Field House.

The Bulldogs ended the first half on a 17-4 run, and after the Broncos (3-3) pulled within three points on a Jace Whiting 3-pointer in the first two minutes of the second half – Butler (5-2) responded with a 14-point run to go up double digits. 

Boise State was 1-of-11 from the field in that stretch and ended the game shooting 32.3-percent. 

Top Broncos
  • Tyson Degenhart scored a game-high 12 points, collecting seven boards and two steals.
  • Jace Whiting added nine points, going 2-2 from beyond the arc, five rebounds and three assists.
  • O'Mar Stanley contributed eight points, six rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
Notables
  • The Broncos scored 20 points off the bench. 
  • Boise State has had 11+ points from the bench for the sixth-straight game to open the season . . . the Broncos have had 20+ points off the bench in three games this season. 
  • The Broncos trailed at halftime in all three games of the ESPN Events Invitational.
  • Boise State had a season low eight turnovers (previous low was nine against VCU).
