TYLER, Texas – Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has been named a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler announced.
Jeanty ranks second in the nation with 164.6 all-purpose yards per game. Despite missing two games, he is fourth in the nation in yards from scrimmage, totaling 1,646. The sophomore has 1,109 rushing yards and 537 receiving yards, making him the first player with 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season since 2019. He achieved this feat in just 10 games, the first player to do so since 2016.
The product of Lone Star HS is fifth in the country in total touchdowns (18) and ranks third nationally in points per game (10.8). He has recorded 84 first downs, the most in the FBS, and caused 83 missed tackles, second-most in the country.
Against Air Force, Jeanty scored on a 50-yard rush and 75-yard reception, making him the only player in the country with multiple rushing touchdowns of 50 or more yards and multiple receiving touchdowns of 50 or more yards. He has 583 yards after catch, the most among non-wide receivers and sixth among all FBS players.
Jeanty was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week on Nov. 28 and received honorable mention from the organization on Sept. 26 and Oct. 17. This adds to an impressive collection of accolades for the sophomore, including MW Offensive Player of the Year, which was also announced on Nov. 28. He was named a midseason All-American by the AP, The Athletic, CBS, CFN, ESPN, and FOX Sports.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year D1 Texas college. Jeanty is a product of Lone Star HS, located in Frisco, Texas.
Boise State will play UNLV in the MW Championship on Saturday, Dec. 2, in Allegiant Stadium. The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. MT and air nationally on FOX.
