BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State softball program signed four infielders, two pitchers, two utility players and an outfielder, head coach Justin Shults announced, Wednesday.

"We are extremely excited to officially announce our 2024 class," Shults said. "We have nine student-athletes who will help us get better in all phases of the game. This class has championship caliber pitching, speed and power at the plate, and elite athletes on defense. The future continues to get brighter and brighter for Bronco softball."

Madyson Aguilera (IF, Norco, Calif., Norco HS)
Aguilera was part of a Norco team that finished 27-4 last season and was CIF Southern Section runner-up in Division 1.

Coach Shults Says: "Madyson is a gritty athlete. She is a true competitor, and will help raise the level of play on the field. She can play multiple positions and does a great job hitting for power and average."

OIivia Bauer (UT, Marysville, Calif., Sutter HS)
Bauer led Sutter with a .527 batting average and posted a 23-2 record with a 1.04 ERA in the circle for the Huskies in 2023. She was named MaxPreps All-Sac-Joaquin Section. She is a .466 career hitter.

Coach Shults Says: "Olivia is a two-way player, who has a ton of versatility, and an unmatched work ethic.  She is very consistent in the circle, and will be able to show off her power and speed at the plate."

Makenzie Butt (1B, Garden Grove, Calif., Fountain Valley HS)
Butt batted .512 with 13 home runs, 54 RBI and 1.058 slugging percentage last spring. Her home run and RBI totals ranked in the top 20 in the state. She carries a .472 career batting average into her senior season.

Coach Shults Says: "Makenzie is a well-rounded athlete, but her power at the plate separates her from the rest. I think our fans will appreciate the plethora of souvenirs she hits into the stands in her career as a Bronco."

Ashley Hernandez (OF, Whittier, Calif., California HS)
Hernandez batted .433 over the last-two seasons combined. She added 13 stolen bases in both her sophomore and junior campaigns.

Coach Shults Says: "Ashley will be covering ground in the outfield and causing havoc on the bases. She will be a triple threat from the left side of the plate. She is an extremely high achiever and has a lot of untapped potential."

Chloe Hughes (IF, Mariposa, Calif., Mariposa County HS)
Hughes is a .484 career hitter with a .910 slugging percentage. She was a member of Team USA Under-16 Team.

Coach Shults Says: "Chloe plays with a chip on her shoulder, comes from a small town, and has that blue collar work ethic. She's a gamer and a competitor, and her athleticism is truly special."

Shannon Keighran (RHP, Burlingame, Calif., Saint Francis HS)
Keighran is 33-1 with a 1.00 ERA in three-years at Saint Francis. She has averaged 11.50 strikeouts per 7 innings.

Coach Shults Says: "Shannon is a true competitor in the circle, and has the potential to be a great leader for us. She has always been a team first athlete, and we can't wait to see what she does as a Bronco."

Julianne Rose (RHP, Bothell, Wash., Bothell HS)
Rose posted a 16-0 mark in the circle with a 1.34 ERA last season. She recorded 166 strikeouts and was named to the 4A KingCo Pitcher of the Year.

Coach Shults Says: "Julianne is the definition of a power pitcher. She has the ability to be one of the hardest throwers we've ever had. Her ceiling is very high, and we expect an immediate impact from her."

Quinn Southerland (IF, Mission Viejo, Calif., Capistrano Valley HS)
Southerland batted over .500 in 2023 and led Capistrano Valley to the CIF Southern Section Division 3 championship.

Coach Shults Says: "Quinn is an exceptional athlete. Her speed at the plate and range on defense are just a couple of things we are excited about. She was heavily recruited and we can't wait for her to be competing in the middle of our infield."

Hailey Vassalotti (UT, Loxahatchee, Fla., Seminole Ridge Community HS)
Vassalotti batted .478 and .400 as a sophomore and junior, respectively for Seminole Ridge Community. She averaged more than an RBI per game over the last-two seasons.

Coach Shults Says: "Hailey was the last Bronco in the 2024 class to commit, but we are so excited she chose to spend her college career in Boise. She will be all over the field for us, from behind the plate to third base to the outfield. She is a left-handed bat who can run well."
