Broncos Roll Past Battlin' Bears

BOISE, Idaho – Tatum Thompson scored a season-high 18 points off the bench while Elodie Lalotte added 14 points as Boise State downed Rocky Mountain College, 67-46, Tuesday afternoon in ExtraMile Arena.
 
Lalotte scored four of the team's first five points, but the Broncos trailed the Battlin' Bears 8-7 at the first media timeout. Dani Bayes gave the Broncos some separation, scoring eight points and dishing out two assists as Boise State ended the quarter on a 17-3 run to lead 24-11 at the quarter break. 
 
After Tatum Thompson hit a 3-pointer to open the second quarter, Rocky Mountain College rattled 11-straight points to cut the Bronco lead to five. The Battlin' Bears outscored the Broncos 15-11 in the second period, but Boise State remained ahead, 35-26, at the break.
 
Mary Kay Naro exploded for nine points to lead Boise State on a 12-4 run to open the second half and build a 17-point advantage. Boise State shot 69.2% from the field in the third quarter and held the Bears to just five points to take a 54-31 lead into the final period. Dominique Stephens scored 10 points in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough as Boise State held on for a 21-point victory.
 

Top Broncos

- Tatum Thompson scored a season-high 18 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the floor. She also pulled down a season-high six rebounds and recorded a career-high three steals.
- Elodie Lalotte matched her season-high, scoring 14 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting performance.
- Mary Kay Naro scored all nine of her points in the third quarter. The senior shot 4-of-5 from the field.
- Dani Bayes finished with eight points, all of which came in the opening period. 
 

Notables

- The Broncos blocked 13 shots as a team in the contest, the most in a single game in program history. Boise State had previously blocked 12 shots four times in its history, including earlier this season against UC Riverside on Nov. 15.
- Abby Muse moved into sixth place all-time in the program's record books with 742 career rebounds. The senior passed Wendy Sullivan (1986-90), who grabbed 738 boards in her career.
- Boise State had an announced attendance of 2,732, the most since 3,261 fans watched Boise State play Fresno State on Jan. 25, 2020.
- Rocky Mountain College scored 46 points, marking the fourth time this season the Bronco defense held an opponent under 50 points.
- Boise State's 21-point margin of victory marked the fourth 20-point win of the season.
- The Broncos scored a season-high 38 points in the paint.
- Dani Bayes hit multiple 3-pointers for the sixth time this season.
- Alyssa Christensen matched her season-high with eight rebounds.
- Linsey Lovrovich blocked a career-high three shots.

What's Next

Boise State will wrap up its nonconference schedule next week at the San Diego Classic. The Broncos will take on UC San Diego on Dec. 20 before facing San Diego on Dec. 21. Tipoff for both games is slated for 5 p.m. MT.
