Broncos Finish Third in Spring Opener

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Boise State women's golf finished third at the Mountain Classic Match Play, capturing victories in two of its three matches, Feb. 13-14.
QUARTERFINAL vs. SEATTLE (Boise State, 3-2)
For its first matchup, Boise State drew the reigning tournament champion Seattle as its opponent. The battle went down to the wire, as junior Franca Polla clinched the victory for the Broncos, edging out Azumi Arai, 2&1. Sophomore Hannah Lim captured Boise State's first point, dominating 4&3, and junior Elli Gordon won 1 UP.
SEMIFINAL vs. NORTHERN ARIZONA (NAU, 3-0-2)
Monday afternoon, Boise State was narrowly defeated by Northern Arizona, as four of the matches were decided on the 18th hole. Freshmen Leia Chung and Annie Buffolino both concluded their rounds in a tie.
CONSOLATION FINAL vs. MONTANA STATE (Boise State, 3-1-1)
Boise State concluded the tournament with a win against Montana State. Juniors Elli Gordon and Franca Polla captured quick victories, both winning 3&2. Freshman Annie Buffolino bested the Bobcats' Jordan Briggs.
