Huskies Deal Broncos First Loss Of The Season

2/3/2023 9:24:00 PM | Women's Tennis

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State women's tennis team was dealt its first loss of the season Friday evening, dropping a 7-0 contest against Washington at Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

The Huskies (5-0) jumped out to an early lead after winning the doubles point over the Broncos (3-1) with victories on courts one and three. Washington then claimed each of the first three singles victories, going up 4-0 and clinching the overall victory. The Broncos battled on courts five and six where Shauna Heffernan and Bhakti Shah each split the first two sets of their respective matches, but in the end Boise State was unable to fend off the Huskies.

Quotables
  • "Washington was tough today and did a good job handling the atmosphere," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "We aren't a team that settles for moral victories, and this was a match where we felt we could win and could have made couple of better decision in some key moments. Now we have a quick turnaround to face another high-quality opponent in Wisconsin and I'm excited to see our response on Sunday."
Notables
  • The Broncos hosted a season-high crowd of 192.
