Boise State Wins Fourth Straight Game

BOISE, Idaho – Anna Ostlie scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half to hold off a late comeback attempt as Boise State defeated New Mexico, 69-62, to win its fourth-straight game, Thursday, at ExtraMile Arena.

The Broncos (13-13, 8-5 MW) created separation early by jumping out to a 14-3 start. Boise State kept its foot on the gas, shooting 52.9% in the opening quarter to take a 20-11 lead. The Lobos (14-11, 6-6 MW) cut the lead to six with 3:42 left in the second period, but the Broncos used an 8-0 run to create a 39-28 halftime edge.

Ostlie and Mary Kay Naro hit back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half to extend the Bronco lead to 17. New Mexico slowly crept back, cutting the lead to ten entering the final period, and used a 12-4 run in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to four with 3:08 remaining. After four straight empty possessions between the two teams, Abby Muse connected on one of her two free throw attempts to give the Broncos a 67-62 lead with 1:39 on the clock. New Mexico missed a 3-pointer on its next two possessions, and Elodie Lalotte connected on a layup with 39 seconds left to secure the team's seven-point victory.

Quotables

"I thought our post players really showed up in the first half. In the second half we really struggled, but Anna Ostlie was phenomenal. She hit big shot after big shot and made big pass after big pass. She's playing with a lot more confidence and a lot more swag." – head coach Gordy Presnell

"The biggest sign of growth to me is our kids are already calling things and saying things that earlier in the year I was saying to them. They're thinking for themselves. That's the best part about coaching, when they believe in each other and they're all in it together." - Presnell

"We had a shift a few weeks ago where we just got tired of losing. Confidence comes from winning so it's been really fun." – junior Abby Muse
