BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State women's tennis team defeated UNLV for the first time in program history, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

The Broncos (9-5, 2-1 MW) were once again dominant in doubles play, winning on courts three and one to claim the point for the 11th time in 14 matches this season. The Rebels (10-2, 2-1 MW) tied things up after winning the singles match on court two, but Nicole Discenza took back the lead with a straight-set victory at the No. 6 position.

At the No. 1 position, Pauline Ernstberger battled Molly Helgesson to a third set, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to put Boise State in a position to clinch. Holly Stewart provided the deciding blow as she won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to hand UNLV its second loss of the season.

Notables

The 4-1 victory is Boise State's first over UNLV in program history. The Broncos were 0-9 against the Rebels entering Saturday.

Boise State faces a quick turnaround as the Broncos take on San Diego State tomorrow at 2 p.m. MT. The match is scheduled to be played at the Appleton Tennis Center, but could be moved indoors to the Boas Indoor Tennis Center, weather depending.
