BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State women's tennis team battled with 50th-ranked San Diego State, but was ultimately defeated 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

The Broncos (9-6, 2-2 MW) clinched the doubles point yet again after winning on courts two and three to take a 1-0 point over the Aztecs (10-5, 3-1 MW). Joana Baptista added to the lead in singles play, winning in straight-sets on court four to make it 2-0 in favor of Boise State.

San Diego State responded by winning three-straight singles matches, going ahead of Boise State and moving into a position to clinch the match. The focus shifted to courts one and two as each match entered the third set. Both Pauline Ernstberger and Lorelyz Marruffo fought back after losing their respective first sets, but the Aztecs closed it out on court two to clinch the match.

"I was proud of our team and our effort to come back into some matches," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "We battled through and put some points on the board, but at the end of the day I think our team still has our best tennis ahead of us. We're not a finished product yet, our team knows that, and we're getting better every match."

Boise State has won the doubles point in 12 of 15 matches this season, including wins in each of its four Mountain West matches.

Boise State travels to play its first Mountain West road matches of the season in USAFA, Colo. The Broncos take on Air Force on Friday (April 7) at 2 p.m. MT before facing New Mexico at 10 a.m. the following day.
