BOISE, Idaho – Four Boise State women's tennis student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. Joana Baptista, Nicole Discenza, Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan were each selected for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must play in 50-percent or more of their team's competitions and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Baptista is a sociology major who played a major role in both singles and doubles for the Broncos this season. The Porto, Portugal, native posted an 18-12 overall singles record and was 4-0 at the No. 3 position which she began playing towards the end of the season. In doubles the senior served at the No. 2 position in which she went 10-8 with partner Holly Stewart.

Discenza is a junior psychology major who was the only Bronco to reach 20 wins in singles this season. The Venezuelan posted a 11-5 singles mark during the spring campaign while also playing in the No. 1 doubles tandem with Lorelyz Marruffo. The duo was named to the All-Mountain West Doubles Team after going 9-8 at the top position.

Ernstberger – who is majoring in business administration – was Boise State's No. 1 singles option throughout the year, garnering All-MW Singles honors after a 19-10 season at the top position. In doubles, the junior from Bruchsal, Germany, posted a record of 24-9, the best record of any Bronco who played at least 20 matches.

Heffernan is a kinesiology major who was one of four Broncos to win at least 15 singles matches during the 2022-23 campaign. The Claremorris, Ireland, native teamed up with Ernstberger to post a 16-4 record in spring doubles, the best record of any Bronco duo during the duals season.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America selections will be announced June 1st.
