Arca Costas Named Most Improved Senior in ITA’s Mountain Region

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State senior Simon Arca Costas has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Mountain Region Most Improved Senior for 2023.
 
The senior from Vigo, Spain, closed his Boise State career with an impressive spring campaign when he set the school record for consecutive wins at 24. Arca Costas closed the team dual regular season undefeated at 23-0, the top mark in school history. His final 2022-23 singles record of 33-6 ranked third all-time for wins, and his win percentage of .846 placed fourth.
 
Arca Costas and his doubles partner Michael Bott went a combined 20-8 in team duals and 21-9 overall on the year. Their win total tied for 12th in a season at Boise State. He personally finished at 28-15 in doubles overall on the year, tying for 10th in wins in school history.
 
He led the Broncos to the 2023 Mountain West Tournament Championship and a berth into the NCAA Championship tournament.
 
Arca Costas finished his career as a six-time All-Mountain West honoree, three times each in singles and doubles. His career singles record of 104-40 ranks fifth, and his win percentage of .722 is eighth in program history. He finished at 77-45 in doubles to rank 12th for career wins.
 
The fifth-year senior tallied a combined (singles and doubles) record of 181-85, which is ranked tied for sixth for career wins, while his career win percentage of .681 is 12th.
