Avalos Named to Dodd Watch List

ATLANTA – Boise State Football Head Coach Andy Avalos was named to the 2023 Dodd Trophy Presented by PNC Bank Preseason Watch List, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc., announced, Thursday.
The Dodd Trophy celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of three pillars of Bobby Dodd's coaching philosophy - scholarship, leadership and integrity.
Consideration is given to a program's Graduation Success Rate, commitment to service and charity in the community, projected success for the 2023 season and Academic Progress Rate (APR).
A coach's program must have an APR of 980 or higher. In addition, a coach in the first year at his current school is not eligible.
Avalos is the only Mountain West head coach on the list of 21 named to the watch list and one of only two to lead a Group of Five school (Tulane's Willie Fritz).
The 2023 season marks the third for Avalos as the Broncos' head coach. Boise State is coming off a 10-4 season in which the Broncos captured the Mountain West Mountain Division and won the Frisco Bowl.
