POCATELLO, Idaho – Boise State volleyball completed the weekend sweep of the Idaho State Bengals with its second-straight 3-0 victory over ISU on Sunday. The Broncos are now 2-0 after the first week of play.

The Blue and Orange started the match slow in set one, which saw them trail most of the way as the two teams traded mini-runs throughout. The decisive stretch was a 5-0 run that saw the Bronco come from 24-20 down to 25-24 up. Boise State eventually took the set 28-26 on kills by Paige Bartsch and Anabel Kotzakov, respectively.

The second frame saw Boise State jump out to a quick lead and never trailed, eventually winning it by seven at 25-18.

The third set was close throughout, with 14 ties and six lead changes. Down 20-19, the Broncos regrouped with a 4-0 run to go up 23-20. The Blue and Orange maintained the lead after that with Bartsch recording the final two Boise State points with kills to secure the set 25-23 and the 3-0 match victory.

Quotes

  • "I thought Annie (Kaminski) was really good at slowing down Idaho State's middles with her seven blocks; seven in three sets is great," said Boise State Head Coach Shawn Garus. "Bree (Mitchell) was also big today and had a terrific service run to lead the comeback in set one. I also thought that Noelani (Helm) was solid, getting the first double-double of the season with 22 assists and 10 digs, as well as being second in kills. The season is young, and we still have much to work on and keep improving."
