Bronco kicker within reach of MW, national records
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State kicker Jonah Dalmas has his name sitting atop the kicking categories in the Broncos' record book. Now he is setting his sights on the Mountain West and NCAA record books, announcing Friday that he will return for one more season on The Blue in 2024.
Â
Dalmas made the announcement on X/Twitter stating, "Boise State, you have been good to me! And for that, we are running it back in 2024! I'M BACK!"
Â
He finished the 2023 season ranking second all-time in NCAA history in career field goal percentage (.889) and tied for 15th all-time in career field goals made (80), two areas where he already holds school records while also holding the Mountain West record in career field goal percentage. He will enter his final year of eligibility needing only four field goals to break the Mountain West record and 18 field goals to set the NCAA career record, currently at 97 set by NC State's Christopher Dunn in 2022.
Â
"My brothers and I are on a mission and we are never satisfied," Dalmas added. "I'm doing this for my brothers and The Brotherhood and I can't wait for what's next."
Â
The Meridian native already holds the school records in career field goal percentage (.889) and field goals made (80) and his percentage mark ranks as the best in Mountain West history. Nevada's Brandon Talton, who has exhausted his collegiate eligibility, holds the league's career field goal record with 83 made field goals.
Â
This past season, Dalmas was 24-for-27 on field goal attempts and tied the school record for the longest field goal with a 56-yard kick against UCF on Sept. 9. Boise State was the only team in the nation to have a kicker that has made a field goal of 49 yards or longer and a punter averaging over 49 yards per punt. Broncos' punter James Ferguson-Reynolds averaged 49.7 yards per punt this season.
Â
He was also one of just nine kickers in the country last season to hit four field goals from 50-or-more yards and was tied for the national lead on 40-plus-yard kicks, converting 90.9% (10 of 11) of those attempts (minimum four field goals).
Â
Dalmas joins notable Broncos such as Ashton Jeanty, Alexander Teubner, Markel Reed, Tyler Crowe and Michael Callahan in announcing a return for another season in 2024.
