Middleton Leads Broncos at ITA Mountain Regionals at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Jett Middleton led Boise State men's tennis at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Mountain Region Championships as the Columbine Valley, Colorado, native advanced to the singles third-place match, where he fell in two sets.
During the six-day event (Oct. 17-22), the fifth-year senior led an impressive performance by the Boise State men's tennis team in Las Vegas.
After the qualifying round on Oct. 17, which two Broncos, Dylan Jaen and Adam Duda, advanced out of, Boise State had all nine of its representatives at the regional championships in the main draw for singles. The next closest team had six representatives in the main draw.
Middleton advanced to the semifinal round after four straight victories. He was the first Bronco since 2022 to reach the semifinal round. The semifinal loss moved him into the third-place match, where he fell 7-5, 6-2 to Utah's Berk Bugarikj Tuesday morning.
In all, Boise State advanced two Broncos to the quarterfinals in singles: Middleton and James Van Herzeele. Middleton then advanced into the third-place contest.
The Blue and Orange also had three doubles teams in the quarterfinals: Middleton and Carson Baker, Lukas Velik and Idriss Haddouch, and John Chin and Van Herzeele.
It was the best performance by the program at the ITA Mountain Region Championships in over 10 years.

- Jett Middleton went 4-2 in singles and reached the third-place match; he also made the quarterfinals in doubles with Carson Baker.
- James Van Herzeele went 3-1 in singles to advance to the quarterfinals and made the doubles quarterfinals alongside John Chin.
NOTABLES
- Jett Middleton is now eligible for selection to the ITA Sectional Championships in singles, which will be held Nov. 7-10 in Malibu, California.
- Boise State went a combined 19-12 in singles play and 7-4 in doubles.
- The Broncos' doubles performance of advancing three teams to the quarterfinal round was the best performance since 2016 when they advanced one team, Kyle Butters and Jack Heslin, to the final.
- Jett Middleton's semifinal appearance was the first by a Bronco since Simon Arca Costas in 2022 and only the second since 2011, when James Meredith made the semifinal round while Damian Hume won the championship.
