Broncos Fall to Dons in First Road Game of Season

SAN FRANCISCO — Despite battling back from a first-half deficit, Boise State fell short to San Francisco, 84-73, at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Saturday night.
Tyson Degenhart led Boise State (1-1) with a game-high 25 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field and adding seven rebounds. Alvaro Cardenas chipped in 11 points, while Andrew Meadow added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Boise State kept pace with the Dons (2-0) early, trailing 36-30 at halftime. In the second half, the Broncos erased a nine-point deficit with a 12-0 run midway through and Degenhart hitting a free throw at the 12:23 mark to give Boise State a 50-47 lead. However, the Dons responded with a 16-0 surge, reclaiming the lead and maintaining it down the stretch.
San Francisco's Marcus Williams proved critical in the final minutes, draining a three-pointer with 3:07 remaining to extend the lead to 76-60.Â
The Dons shot 52.7% from the field, including 68% (17-of-25) in the second half. The Broncos, meanwhile, finished the game 24-of-60 from the field (40%) and 3-of-16 from three-point range (18.8%).
Malik Thomas led the Dons with 22 points while Williams added 20. Williams was 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Javan Buchanan added 10 points off the bench for the Broncos to give Boise State four players in double-figures.

The Broncos will host Corban on Tuesday, November 12 at ExtraMile Arena with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
