BOISE, Idaho – Boise State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dirk Koetter has been nominated for the Broyles Award, presented annually to the nation's top assistant coach.

Koetter guides a Boise State offense that ranks third in the country in scoring (41.2 ppg), fifth in total yards (479.5 ypg), fifth in rushing (252.0 ypg) and seventh in 3rd down conversions (49.6%). The Broncos have the fourth-fewest turnovers in the country (7) and have the 10th-best red zone offense (92.3%).

Running back Ashton Jeanty leads the nation in nearly every rushing category, including yards (2,062) and touchdowns (27). He is a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award and is a six-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. Quarterback Maddux Madsen ranks second in the MW in passing efficiency (147.5) and is the only player in the country with 12+ touchdowns and one or fewer interceptions in conference play.

The Broncos have allowed 11 sacks this season, tied for 11th-fewest in the country. Kage Casey has not allowed any sacks and is the second-highest graded left tackle in the country according to Pro Football Focus, earning a grade of 88.2.

Matt Lauter has 35 receptions for 416 yards and six touchdowns, leading MW tight ends in all three categories. Cameron Camper has 738 receiving yards on 45 catches, ranking third in the MW with 16.4 yards per reception.

Boise State has 2,772 rushing yards this year, already the highest regular season total in the program's FBS era (since 1996). The Broncos have done this despite having seven combinations of starting offensive linemen, with 10 players making at least one start. They have played four games where at least 10 players have recorded one reception. Boise State leads the nation in plays of 50+ yards (13) and 60+ yards (9).

Koetter was the Boise State head coach from 1998-00, leading the Broncos to back-to-back Big Sky championships and a pair of Humanitarian Bowl wins. He spent three years as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was an NFL offensive coordinator for 11 seasons. In 2022, he served as interim offensive coordinator for the Broncos. The Blue and Orange went 8-2 in that span, winning all seven conference games and the Frisco Bowl.

No. 12/11/11 Boise State (10-1, 7-0 MW) closes the regular season on The Blue with a 10 a.m. game against Oregon State (5-6) on Friday, Nov. 29. It will be televised nationally on FOX.
