SAN JOSE, Calif. — Behind Tyson Degenhart's season-high 26 points, Boise State (10-3) defeated San Jose State (7-7), 73-71, on Saturday afternoon at Provident Credit Union Event Center.
With the win, Leon Rice secured his 300th victory as Boise State's head coach. He is 1-of-7 active head coaches to accumulate 300 D-I wins while leading only one program in his career.
Degenhart, who scored a game-high 26 points, shot 10-of-21 from the floor and added seven rebounds. He has accumulated 1,598 points in his career, which is the eighth-highest total in program history.
In his return to San Jose State, Alvaro Cardenas collected his seventh double-digit assist game of his career (third this season). He recorded 10 helpers to go with seven points and two steals.

To start the second half, San Jose State knocked down and early three and captured its first double-digit lead by either team. The Spartans grabbed their largest lead of the game (11 points) on a long ball from Donavan Yap Jr.
In response to trailing 43-32 with 17:33 to play, Boise State totaled an 13-4 run to pull within four. Degenhart and Stanley were the catalysts, scoring 11 of the 13 points during the run.
Down the stretch, the game was nip-and-tuck. The second half alone featured three ties and seven lead changes.
Javan Buchanan came up big for Boise State in the final minutes. He tallied the final bucket for the Broncos and collected a block as time expired to seal the win.
