BOISE, Idaho – Behind hot shooting and an aggressive defensive performance, Boise State women's basketball cruised past Utah Tech, 90-56, Friday afternoon at ExtraMile Arena.
The Broncos (8-2) finished with a 45.9% shooting performance from the floor and converted 11 shots from beyond the arc in the victory. Defensively, Boise State forced the Trailblazers (4-6) into 28 turnovers, which led to a season-high 30 points off turnovers.Â
With the victory, the Blue and Orange remain a perfect 6-0 within the friendly confines of ExtraMile Arena. Natalie Pasco and Tatum Thompson each finished with 14 points in the contest, while Teryn Gardner recorded 10 points and a career-high nine rebounds.
Boise State brought the pressure to start the contest, forcing 10 Utah Tech turnovers in the opening frame. The Broncos shot only 26.4% in the period, but Thompson netted seven points to give Boise State a 15-11 first-quarter lead.
Gardner exploded in the second quarter, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the field. The freshman hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the middle of a 10-0 Bronco run to start the period.
