
Caudill Adds National Award Following Opening-Weekend Effort

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Boise State senior pitcher Taylor Caudill was named Wilson/NFCA D1 Pitcher of the Week, Tuesday.

The accolade comes a day after she was honored as the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week.

A native of Mission Viejo, Calif., Caudill won each of her four appearances (three in relief) at the Kajikawa Classic (Feb. 9-11) in Arizona with a 0.33 ERA, 0.33 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 21 innings. She retired 62 of 73 batters faced and only allowed four baserunners to reach second base.

In Friday's season opener against No. 20 Northwestern, she entered a tie game in the fifth inning with one out and runner on second. The right hander retired eight of nine batters she faced.

Caudill picked up her second win of the day with 4 2/3 innings of no-run, no-hit ball in relief against St. Thomas.

Saturday, she was stellar in 6 2/3 innings of shutout relief against Arizona State. The win was Boise State's second in school history on the road against a Power 5 opponent.

Caudill capped the weekend, Sunday with a five-hitter on the road against 2023 WAC champion Grand Canyon, handing the Lopes their first loss of 2024.

She became the second pitcher to reach 400-career strikeouts at Boise State. Her current total of 401 is 31 behind Aubray Zell (2009-12).

The Broncos are receiving votes in both the USA/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 polls. Boise State begins an eight-day, 11-game road trip, Saturday in Arlington, Texas. First pitch against Michigan State at the Maverick Invitational Is scheduled for 9 a.m. CT/8 a.m. MT.
