Broncos Secure Win Over Hornets and Thunderbirds

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State gymnastics team scored a season-high 196.650 to win a tri-meet on Friday night. The Broncos defeated Southern Utah (196.250) and Sacramento State (195.225) behind three event victories from seniors. Courtney Blackson (floor), Emily Lopez (bars) and Adriana Popp (beam) each scored a 9.950 to win their respective events.

Boise State opened on vault, scoring a season-high 49.200 to open a lead they would not relinquish. Four Broncos matched or eclipsed their season-bests on the apparatus. The seniors led the Blue and Orange on the final three rotations, tallying a win on each apparatus to improve the Broncos' record to 8-3.

The Broncos travel to Logan, Utah for a quad meet at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23. Boise State will compete against Mountain West foe Utah State, as well as nonconference opponents Iowa State and Texas Woman's.

- Courtney Blackson tied the program record on floor for the second-straight home meet, scoring a 9.950. She won the event and tallied the 27th 9.950 in school history.
- Blackson's victory on floor was her second of the season and fourth of her career. She has four event wins this year and 14 in her career.
- Adriana Popp matched her career-high on beam (9.950) and season-high on vault (9.850). Her beam score ties for fourth in program history and marked her first event win of the year. She has 13 career victories, including 10 on beam.
- Emily Lopez posted a season-best 9.900 on vault and tied her season-best on bars (9.950). This was the third time she tallied a 9.950 on bars, the only Bronco to do so this year.
- Lopez finished first on bars for the fourth time this year. She has six event wins this season and 22 in her career. She is tied for 10th in school history with 11 career wins on bars.
- The Broncos scored a team season-high on vault of 49.200. Boise State's total score of 196.650 was also a season-best.
- Emma Loyim scored a 9.925 on beam, matching the top score of her career.
- Elaina McGovern (9.800) and Sydney Kho (9.775) scored career-bests on vault.
- McGovern tied her season-high on bars, notching a 9.775.
