
Broncos Split Two at Tiger Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. – Boise State defeated Austin Peay 10-3 and lost to No. 6 LSU 8-5 at the Tiger Classic, Friday.

In the win over the Governors (5-2), Hollie Farmer and Mykenzie Hanna combined for five hits, including three home runs, and five RBI.

Hanna started the scoring with a two-run home run in the top of the second. In the third, Boise State (9-5) scored on an error and an RBI-double by Brooklynn Pettis.

The Broncos led 4-1 entering the sixth and blew the game open on a two-run homer by Farmer and a solo blast by Hanna.

After Austin Peay scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, Boise State closed out the scoring in the seventh when Megan Lake singled home two and scored on a fielder's choice.

Jenna Bloom (3-1) went the distance in the circle to pick up the win.

Against the Tigers (10-0), the Broncos trailed 5-0 before Leah McAnally belted a two-run home run in the fourth.

LSU answered in the bottom of the frame for a 6-2 lead, before Hanna homered with two aboard in the fifth to bring the Broncos within a run at 6-5.

"It was good to get one win and we had another good battle with LSU," head coach Justin Shults said. "We continue to start too slowly. I have to do a better job of coaching to get us to start faster."
