COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State pitcher Abby Dowell is the Mountain West Freshman of the Week in softball for Feb. 19-25, the conference announced, Monday.

The Iowa Park, Texas native was 2-1 in four appearances, including one start. She posted a 0.95 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 14 2/3 innings.

Against UT Arlington, Feb. 19, Dowell logged four shutout innings in relief to earn her first-career victory.

In two outings at No. 6 LSU (Feb. 22-23), she gave up one run on five hits and no walks over 6 2/3 innings. She started and beat Big 12 member Houston, Feb. 24 with four innings of work, allowing one run.

Boise State leads the Mountain West with five weekly awards this season. Dowell joins Sophia Knight (Feb. 5-11) as Broncos to win freshman of the week honors.
