Muse Records Triple-Double as Broncos Cruise Past Aggies

Presnell Records 750th Career Victory with the Win

LAS VEGAS –Abby Muse recorded the third triple-double in program history as No. 6 Boise State women's basketball rolled past No. 11 Utah State, 85-49, Sunday night in the first round of the 2024 Mountain West Women's Basketball Championship.

Muse finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists to lead the Broncos (20-12) past the Aggies (5-25). The win also marked the 750th career win for head coach Gordy Presnell, who became the 30th NCAA women's basketball head coach (15th among active head coaches) to reach 750 career victories.

The milestones coincided with a comfortable victory for the Broncos, with season-bests from the squad in rebounds (67), assists (24) and points in the paint (52). Boise State advances to the quarterfinals with the win and will take on No. 3 Wyoming on Monday, March 11, at 8:30 p.m. MT.

The Broncos started out on fire, racing out a 7-0 start. The Aggies cut the lead to four, but Trista Hull scored back-to-back baskets to give Boise State a 14-6 lead. Elodie Lalotte followed up with consecutive layups and Mya Hansen hit a pull-up jumper as time expired as the Broncos led 22-11 after the first ten.

Muse had a dominant start to the second stanza, recording six points, four rebounds and an assist to spur a 13-2 run. The Broncos held the Aggies to just eight points in the quarter to take a 40-19 lead into the break.

Boise State opened the second half with a 12-1 run to stretch the lead to 32 points midway through the period. Eight different Broncos found the bottom of the net in the quarter as the team led 61-32 entering the final period.

Needing two assists to record a triple-double, Muse found Pasco on a backcut with 3:10 remaining. The senior notched a steal on the ensuing possession, then found Pasco again for a 3-pointer with 2:44 remaining to complete the feat. The Blue and Orange led by as much as 39 points in the fourth quarter as the team cruised to the quarterfinals.

- Abby Muse finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, marking the third triple-double in program history.
- Elodie Lalotte shot 6-of-9 from the floor to finish with 12 points.
- Trista Hull recorded her second career-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Natalie Pasco scored 10 points in the contest.

Notables
- Abby Muse finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, marking the third triple-double in program history. Marta Hermida recorded the last triple-double  on Nov. 26, 2017 with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists against Corban.
- Head coach Gordy Presnell picked up his 750th career win as a collegiate head coach, becoming the 30th women's basketball head coach (15th active) to reach 750 career victories. Presnell holds a 750-366 career record.
- Presnell also won his 19th game at the MW Tournament, the second-most of any coach in league history. He trails Don Flanagan (New Mexico, 1999-2011), who has 21 victories.
- The 85 points Boise State scored is the second-most the Broncos have scored at the MW Tournament.
- Boise State set season-highs in both rebounds (67) and assists (24).
- Sixty-seven rebounds is also the most the Broncos have recorded at the MW Tournament.
- The Blue and Orange scored 52 points in the paint, the most all season.
- Boise State held Utah State to 15-of-67 (22.4%) from the field.
- Muse became the second Bronco in program history to surpass 900 career rebounds, finishing the game with 906.
- Muse also moved into third place in program history with 276 rebounds on the season.
- Natalie Pasco moved into the top five in program history with 77 3-pointers on the year. 
- Boise State blocked nine shots in the game to move to 202 blocks on the season, the most in program history.
- The Broncos have won nine of the last 10 meetings against the Aggies.
