
Broncos Head to Utah for Mountain West Championship

THE MEET:Â The Broncos will take a road trip to Logan, Utah for the MW Championships on Saturday, March 23, at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT:Â The Broncos split their tri-meet, scoring 196.750 to defeat Utah State while falling to No. 17 Oregon State. The Broncos tallied a season-high 49.225 on vault. Emily Lopez tied for first on vault, matching her career-high at 9.925, while Blake Pascal tied her career-high of 9.900 on floor to earn her first career win.
BRONCOS VS. CONFERENCE FOES:Â Boise State went undefeated against conference rivals this season, finishing with a 5-0 record. The Broncos posted their highest score of the season against conference opponent Utah State with a 197.025, sweeping a quad meet hosted by the Aggies on Feb. 23. They are the only team in the Mountain West to record a team score over 197.000. Emily Lopez (bars) and Adriana Popp (beam) are the top-rated gymnasts in their respective events in the league.
BRONCOS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS:Â Emily Lopez is tied 19th, nationally, on bars with a NQS of 9.930.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:Â Air Force enters the conference championships with a NQS of 194.995. The Falcons have the top all-arounder in the conference in Maggie Slife, who holds a NQS of 39.340. San Jose State is ranked 33rd with a NQS of 196.555. The Spartans are ranked the highest in the MW on vault and floor, with National Qualifying Scores of 49.035 and 49.355, respectively. Jaudai Lopes (vault) and Jada Mazury (floor) are the top-rated gymnasts in the league in their respective events. Utah State comes into Saturday's conference test with a NQS of 195.765. The Aggies have two conference wins this season, one against Air Force and the other over San Jose State.
LOPEZ GARNERS MW WEEKLY AWARD:Â Senior Emily Lopez was tabbed the Mountain West Co-Vault Specialist of the Week for the second time this season. Lopez earned the accolade after posting a season-high 9.925 on the apparatus, tying for first. This marked her 10th event win of the season and 26th in her career. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native has now tallied 25 career weekly awards and 10 on the season.
